TSWC

Location: Promenade Stage

Time: 12:15pm

Info: With a humble beginning of less than a dozen singers, the SWC has grown to an over 75-voice, all-inclusive, 501c3 nonprofit organization.  We strive for musical excellence while giving voice to women’s hopes and dreams, opening hearts and minds through harmony.

Since its first performance in 1987 at a fundraiser for a women’s wheelchair basketball team, the SWC has become recognized as an important part of the Sacramento art and activist community.  The SWC sings at events that focus on equality, peace, justice, women’s issues, and LGBTQ pride.  In January 2017, SWC had the honor of singing from the steps of the Capitol in the Sacramento Women’s March.

Women searching for a musical home join the SWC to sing pieces that blend meaning with fun, only to find that they have become part of a remarkable, welcoming community.  The SWC attracts a diverse community by combining compelling social issues with inspiring and entertaining performances.  The women of the SWC are kindred souls singing in a warm, safe, and inviting environment.

SGMC

Location: Promenade Stage

Time: 1:30pm

Info:

The Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus (SGMC) was founded in 1984 as the Sacramento Men’s Chorus and aimed to provide a sense of community and support for gay men in Sacramento during the AIDS epidemic. The chorus has always used music as a tool to confront intolerance. Still, it was not until 2006 that the chorus adopted our current name.

Over the years, the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus has become an integral part of Sacramento’s LGBTQ+ and musical communities through our performances and outreach programs. While the name honors the organization’s history, SGMC’s membership has evolved to represent the diversity of Sacramento’s LGBTQ+ community and allies. Our chorus has grown from its original 35 members to more than 100 members, who reflect the incredible diversity in the LGBTQ+ community and the Sacramento community. We strive to provide a warm, safe place where all are welcome. We are committed to uplifting the most marginalized in our community.

SGMC’s season begins in August each year and runs through the following July. We produce two major productions, a winter holiday show and a spring show, and perform at various local community benefit events, showcasing the voice of Sacramento.

Location: Promenade Stage

Time: 2:45pm

Info:

Westerner is an indie rock band with neo-psychedelic and synth pop flavors in the vein of Foals or Glass Animals. Their songs are at once danceable and mesmerizing. Funky beats and occasional electronics are applied to a showy indie-rock style that can either be danced to or appreciated on a purely musical level. Some very savvy pop tunes are deftly mixed with space and synth rock elements. It’s a compliment to say that their music is hard to compare to anybody else’s, but this is definitely life-force-celebrating music, both exuberant and infectious.

They've racked up over 90k followers on TikTok, spins on LA's KCSN 88.5FM and Amazing Radio (Tobi Lynn, Jose Galvan), and rave reviews from publications like BuzzBandsLA and American Pancake. They currently work with world-famous mastering engineer Vlado Meller (Kanye West, Paul McCartney), and mixing engineer Jules de Gasperis (Low Hum, James Supercave).

The trio consists of Cooper Bombadil on vocals, guitar and synth, Brandon Valerino on bass, synth and backing vocals, and Mike Gattshall on drums and samples.  Their debut album, "Unreal City," was a sci-fi concept album composed of catchy pop songs, surreal sounds, and strange characters.  On August 19th, 2022, they will release their new studio album, "Kali Yuga Kama Sutra," through Coconut Spaceship Records. 2023 will see the release of animated music videos for every song on Unreal City culminating in a psychedelic, musical movie in the tradition of Heavy Metal or Pink Floyd’s The Wall.
